" IN THE LAND OF GREY AND PINK "

UK 1971  on the  "'DERAM "  LABEL  SDL  - R 1

Matrices: ZAL -10424.P-1D and ZAL-10425.P-1D

This is the very first press tan/light brown label and NOT the later red label. My camera turns all colours slightly richer and makes it look more like a light orange hue. Please be assured that this is the TAN/Light brown label.

Extremely hard to find prog  album with stunning songcraft!! Caravan, like only few other bands had a natural interaction in which the members "played off" each other. This album flows like no other and is probably their most accomplished piece of work. Heavy vinyl in VG condition.

Artist or Band: CARAVAN

Album Title: In the Land of Grey and Pink.

Producer(s): David Hitchcock.

TRACK LIST:

Side 1: Golf Girl; Winter Wine; Love to Love you (and tonight pigs will fly); In the Land of Grey and Pink.

Side 2: Nine Feet Underground: Nigel Blows a Tune, Love’s a Friend, Make it 76, Dance of the Seven Paper Hankies, Hold Grandad by the Nose, Honest I Did!, Disassociation, 100% Proof.

Label/Format: Deram – original and much rarer tan-brown format.

Label Conditions: Both clean and attractive with only very faint handling traces (but look hard). Any spindle marks are very few and faint and without doubt, this stunning first issue has hardly been played.

Cat Number: SDL R1.

Weight of this Record: 147 grams. A substantial weight for this record. The more common red label version is usually far lighter.

Country of Manufacture: England.

Rarity: SCARCE!! The red Deram label pressings are much easier to find and a second press although presented as first presses by some sellers. Only a small initial run were pressed on the tan-brown label and are seldom seen or offered.  This IS the very rare TAN coloured label, extremely rare!!

Vinyl: VG.  I have played this in full> There are NO jumps, NO clicks and NO sticks!!! Some background noise here and there but not intrusive. It has had moderate play as attested by the the shallow hairlines on each side. One light scuff on side 1 which does not cause any issue in the audio department. The pressing is of great quality, as should be expected for a first press, producing a full deep stereo sound which really exceeds the second and third presses. I was just now listening to "Nine Feet Underground". Unbelievable musicianship and no wonder that this album is so much sought after.

Gatefold Sleeve: VG+. A nice outside laminated sleeve with nothing untoward, no damage etc. Some indentation as a result of someone having written a letter with the sleeve acting as an underlay only visible at a certain angled tilt. Rich like newly printed colours, this has been stored away from sunlight for  49 years. No stickers, NO writing, NO smudges .... a light crease and indent to the rear, blink and you will miss it, a beautiful glossy sheen to the front and back. The spine is 100% legible. Just look at the pictures. Tiny corner "micro" bumps. Notoriously hard to find!

Please observe all pictures as these are part of the description.

Inner sleeve:  An original polylined blue printed inner sleeve with a tiny tear on the opening.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. But in this superb condition ....? Golddust!!

Postage for items over £30 will incur an extra fee for tracking to be added to international postage. This will be at actual Royal Mail rate. Before paying please wait for me to adjust the invoice.

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!

This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
