BLUE SUEDE SHOES/HONEY, DON'T! (Sun #234 1st pressing, 1956): VG/VG+ 45.


If it wasn't for a tiny pen mark, this single would be clean (see gallery photo).  It plays VG+ and books at least $50.  Bargain-priced for your turntable or jukebox...

God rest Carl Perkins, rocking on in heaven!  Blue Suede Shoes hit popular music like a thunderclap, and Elvis Presley raced into the studio to cover it.  His version shaded Carl's, partly because a car wreck on the way to an appearance on national TV almost killed Carl and dealt life-threatening injuries to his rhythm-guitar-playing brother Jay (at right in above photo).  Jay died of complications 2 years later.  The damage to Carl's career was enormous; although he continued to record terrific sides for Sun, he was never able to regain the momentum of Blue Suede Shoes.
