Description

Here's two very rare items together in one auction.

First we have the 44-page children's book published in 1972 by Scholastic Book Services written and illustrated by Cat Stevens. It tells the story of Teaser and his furry friend Firecat who find the setting full moon stuck in the roof of a barn. Teaser pushes it free and they both have an adventure trying to get the moon back up into the sky. It's a nice accompaniment to the album but rarely seen almost 40 years later.
Secondly, we have an original test pressing from Monarch Records of the Teaser and the Firecat album. Test pressings were made in extremely limited quantities and used by the artist, producers and record execs to check sound quality mix, running order and other technical issues. As test pressings are, by definition, the very first stamped off the master, they are often the best possibly quality offered by vinyl. They were often discarded after use increasing their scarcity.
Unfortunately, Monarch didn't use the best quality vinyl for their tests. This copy of Teaser has all the lovely warmth and smooth mix you expect from the very best vintage analog pressings. It has been cleaned and auditioned thoroughly. In general, tracks towards the outside of the press like "The Wind" and "Tuesday's Dead" have significant surface noise, while inner songs like "How Can I Tell You" and "Peace Train" are almost mint. These tracks blow away the digital versions, IMHO.
