Description
CATAPILLA - S/T
1971 US promotional copy with impressive sound quality and original thick cardboard gatefold
Year/Label : 1971 US VERTIGO swirl Label number : VEL 1006 STEREO Matrix numbers : VEL-1006-A-1-1-1, VEL-1006-B-1-1-1 with "PR" etched on both sidesVery good plus plus (VG+) - nice sheen with just a few hairlines, paper scuff marks, and slightly more noticeable (when viewed closely in a good light) scuff lines, each appearing to be surface only and non-feelable. Excellent condition labels with just a few small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each. Presentable and functional original non-laminated very good (VG) condition outer gatefold sleeve. Nice colours and art work still, but as my photos testify there is clearly noticeable scuffing on all edges (not so much on the spine), ring wear on both the front and reverse sides, and some handling/storage grazes/abrasions towards the edges. No cardboard creasing, tears or unwanted writing, however, and the inside of the gatefold remains in excellent condition. The quality of the stereo audio is very good plus (VG+) - highly listenable with some extraordinary musicianship : no skips, sticks, jumps, repeats, or distortion. Background crackle is minimal, very light and very occasional - just during a couple of the quieter moments/intermissions and run-off's - and there is some very light, very occasional and sporadic clicking but nothing to significantly impact upon the overall excellent listening experience. Impressive tone and clarity throughout. Comes with new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve.
This was UK progressive rock band Catapilla's eponymous debut album - extraordinary musicians producing extraordinary music!
