FACTORY SEALED ALBUM!

BRAND NEW – MINT CONDITION

CATS first opened in London’s West End in May of 1981. It immediately received great critical acclaim and was an instant hit. It won numerous awards, including Best Musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards (England’s Tony Awards). Demand for the music was so great here in the US, people were buying the English Import LP at a very high cost.

Plans for CATS to open on Broadway were months away (scheduled for October, 1982) so, in June of ‘82, Geffen Records rush-released the London Cast Recording here in the US to meet the demand. A sticker on the cover promised a US Cast Recording would be released as soon as possible following the Broadway opening.
