Description

Record Condition:  NM across the 31 LPs, beautiful German pressing, I doubt much of this was ever played

Cover Condition:  Box - VG+ minor storage wear/Individual covers - NM to VG++

Inner Sleeve type:  generic poly-lined

Other notes:  Igor Stravinsky: The Recorded Legacy is CBS Masterworks' massive box of 31 LPs, released in 1981 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky's birth year 1882. The vast majority of Stravinsky's recordings were made for CBS Masterworks starting in 1957 -- when he was 75 years old -- and extending to 1967, when he made his last public appearances.

Igor Stravinsky: The Recorded Legacy includes, in one way or another, some 90 percent of the music Stravinsky is known to have composed. Save the inclusion of both The Firebird Ballet and its corresponding suite, alternate incarnations of works are not found here nor are several of Stravinsky's other piano pieces or the Three Pieces for String Quartet.

Apart from that, Igor Stravinsky: The Recorded Legacy runs the ‘Stravinskian’ gamut, from the opera The Rake's Progress in its entirety to Epitaphium, a late career tidbit lasting all of 70 seconds.

Specific Details: Commemorative presentation, cloth bound boxset (14, 2 LP individual gatefolds and 1 x 3LP boxset - 31 LP's in all) With 44 page, illustrated, presentation booklet on fine art paper. Individual gatefolds contain full libretto where necessary.

Complete with all inserts/book.

Click here to see my other auctions featuring a stunning collection of over a thousand classical LPs!  Included are hundreds of rare original RCA Victor Shaded Dogs, London blue backs, Columbia 6-eye labels, promos, many TAS recipients, original EMI LPs, box sets, audiophile labels, promos, sealed albums and so much more!  The vast majority of these records are high grade.

PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE BIDDING:

I grade conservatively using the Goldmine grading scale.  There is no such thing as a "mint" record, near mint (NM) is my highest grade.  Grades are a visual representation of the playing surfaces.

NM > VG++ > VG+ > VG > VG- > G+ > Good > Poor

NM  -  Playing surfaces will look new with no sings of mishandling.  Possibly unplayed.

VG++  -  At most a few minor imperfections that have little to no effect on play.  Possibly unplayed as well.

VG+  -  Still a great-looking record with slightly more imperfections that may add some background noise in parts.

VG  -  Even more imperfections that may add some background noise in parts.

VG-/G+/G/P - I won't sell too many LPs that fall into these grades, but there will be a progression downwards from VG depending upon the severity of the damage.  These LPs will be play-tested at least in part to ensure they don't skip.

Sometimes the two sides of a record will grade differently.  I will grade it accordingly in those situations, e.g. if side 1 is VG++ & side 2 is VG+ I would mark it VG++/VG+.

Covers follow the same grading scale.

I don't generally grade inner sleeves, but if this information is important to you, please ask!  I will make a note above if the LP is accompanied with a generic, company or custom-printed (this is unique to the release, they usually have pictures, lyrics, etc.) inner sleeve.

LPs are shipped in Whiplash mailers to ensure safe arrival.  They are the most expensive mailers, but also the best.  It's important the LPs arrive to you in the same condition they leave me in, and Whiplash ensures that.
