CEM KARACA & KARDASLAR - "PÜSKÜLLÜ MORUK" 10" TURKEY
‘Püsküllü Moruk’ was a stage play performed in 1971-1972, unfortunately it only managed to grab audiences of 10-15 persons, so its soundtrack has remained largely unheard, until now of course. Issued on glorious white 10” vinyl we have six full tracks from legendary Turkish vocalist Cem Karaca and Anatolian psych-rock supremos Kardaslar. Interestingly enough Kardaslar’s bassist Seyhan Karabay would eventually end up in Selda’s backing band, so I’m sure you can imagine the kind of electrified psychedelic sounds on offer here. The record kicks off with the breaks-heavy ‘Uvertur’, an instrumental festival of heavy sound and obscure instrumentation. Before long though we are introduced to Karaca’s undeniably unique vocals and the record kicks off properly. For the next handful of tracks Karaca guides us through a theatrical land of experimental rock, Turkish style and the result is frankly unmissable. Anyone who had their senses tickled by Selda’s phenomenal album on Finders Keepers will no doubt want to snap this up quickly, it’s limited to 500 copies which aren’t going to last long! Huge recommendation.
