A Christmas Blues album sounds like an oxymoron; contradiction in terms, sort of. How can Christmas be blue, after all….? But, give this record a spin, and you will immediately grasp the concept. Charles Brown is anything but blue here. Brown, was one of the true, genuine pioneers of contemporary American music; a gentleman whose role in the development of modern Blues, R&B and Soul - not to mention Rock’n’Roll - cannot possibly be overestimated, was by all accounts a very kind and sophisticated soul, whose soft manners reflected in his music. And, boy, does it ever show on this album. This is an album of songs which are, at turn, sad, witty, joyful, cozy, or downright jovial. This is a Christmas music to laugh by, and be moved by. And then, there are those gorgeous, inimitable piano licks that, for all their simplicity, nobody in blues seems to have mastered as well. The album originally came out in 1960, and became a perennial Christmas favorite; The songs from the album - mostly Brown’s originals - became a part of the American Christmas standards book and were covered by everyone from Otis Redding and Chuck Berry to the Eagles and from Bruce Springsteen to James Brown. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the CHRISTMAS you deserved to get this year (but only if you were good, did not pout,  etc, etc.).

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           True Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist (this is an electronically rechannelled recording).

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
