Description
Vintage private press "meat school" spoken word poetry lp: CHARLES BUKOWSKI & STEVEN RICHMOND - with paste-down image on what would be the front of the jacket and title text on the back; in the deadwax on the Bukowski side it has an etched date of 4/2/1968; Richmond side says only '4/15'. Richmond was friends with Bukowski and self-published 5 or 6 books after being turned down by publishers, even City Lights and Black Sparrow Press; he lived hard, was a heroin addict and an LSD abuser who never got the recognition he deserved as a poet. Produced by poet Steve Richmond(? not sure about that); Bukowski reads 5 poems on this rare LP which was never distributed commercially. Sanford Dorbin writes in his first bibliography of Bukowski in 1969 that he has only seen 4 copies. The rarest of all Bukowski LPs. With an arresting photographic image of a dog's face with a superimposed human nose and mouth. This is a very hard-to-find record.
Condition is VG-/G+ (vinyl has minor-to-moderate scuffing and some soft surface scratches, including several I can barely feel, but it plays through with occasional background noise; the jacket has tape repair to seams, edge and corner rubbing, and some cover spotting).
(Vintage Records, Vinyl, LP, 33 rpm, Spoken Word, Monolog, Poetry, 1960's, Collectible).
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: All items are very well-packed for shipment and always include tracking numbers. Non-media items have the shipping cost noted in the auction, but we offer FREE SHIPPING TO U.S. CUSTOMERS ON ALL MEDIA ITEMS (AND SOMETIMES NON-MEDIA ITEMS) - that means that the item price includes your shipping costs - this free shipping applies to books & magazines (price includes $3-$5 media mail shipping), postcards, photos, booklets & pamphlets (price includes $1.50-$3, 1st class or media mail shipping), record albums (7"s/45s include $3.00 1st class shipping; 10" and LPs include $3-$5 media mail shipping), cassettes, reel tapes, and CDs (includes $2 to $4, 1st class or mm).
REGARDING IMAGE QUALITY: Some of our older listings have images of poor quality; a few months ago Ebay changed their image size policies, and I was forced to automatically enlarge the images for all of last years' remaining items, which caused them to be grainy and blurry.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS - WE SHIP WORLDWIDE - please contact me prior to bidding so I can determine Airmail shipping rates for you.
WE NEVER USE STOCK PHOTOS - all images are of actual items. WE ALMOST ALWAYS USE MULTIPLE IMAGES. We grade all items conservatively, and when grading record albums we follow the Goldmine Record Guide. Please see our other Ebay auctions for many used, odd, rare and collectible books and records, paper & ephemera, and more. Thank you!
