Rare private press LP by this forgotten hipster;
no information on the web except for this entertaining video
FROM THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
In the late 40’s Embree took “Riff Charles” as a stage name and nom de plume. Originally it was used in conjunction with two 78’s recorded by Scatman Crothers. According to liner notes from the record, “Rock-?n-?Roll with the Scatman,” (Tops…..?), Crothers, who was a friend of Embree, got his first big break by singing four songs written by “Riff Charles.” Embree was a modern Renascence man. Not only was he a musician/songwriter, but he was also an accomplished painter who studied under Thomas Hart Benton. wrote short fiction for Esquire in the late 40s and early 50s
