CHARLES MINGUS~JAZZICAL MOODS~RARE 10" vol 2~1954~NICE
Artist: Charles Mingus
Title: Jazzical Moods vol. 2
Catalog #: Period, SPL 1111 A
Vinyl Condition: VG+ / VG, 1st pressing MONO, Deep Groove
Plays with good fidelity and very minor surface noise. Some light scuffs but no heavy marks. I played through the entire 1st side and there was only one small section with a recurring 'tic' .
Jacket Condition: VG
largely clean front and rear, small tear on rear from price sticker. Some splitting on the top and bottom seam, side spine is split
Special Notes:
Very scarce 10" from 1954 with John LaPorta, Teo Macero, Oliver King (aka Thad Jones), Clem de Rosa and Jackson Wiley. Mingus plays piano on one track, overall this recording is a fascinating glimpse into a devoping Mingus in terms of approach, composition and playing.
