CHARLIE PARKER DIZZY GILLESPIE Bird and Diz Clef MGC-512 disc: VG sleeve: VG- PLEASE READ: Gradings are as per the 'Goldmine' Magazine Grading Guide (available for your consultation on the 'Goldmine' internet site.) This record is a so-called 'deep groove' pressing, meaning that it was cut to be played with a 1 mil stylus. I have played this record from start to finish using today's standard 0.7 mil stylus and then have given the disc an audio playback grade. Using a 0.7 mil stylus sometimes improves the playback because it sits in the groove underneath the area on the groove wall where the wear and damage was usually wreaked by the primitive and poorly designed 1 mil audio playback systems in use back in the 1950s and 60s. When playing mono records I switch my pre-amp from stereo to mono which also improves the playback quality of any mono disc by cutting out low-end rumble and high-end groove noise. As for the sleeves, I have taken photos of both the front and back of the sleeve so you can have a good look at its visual appearance and have only noted where there are seam splits which don't show up in the photographs. Incidentally, the SA Post Office still offers the option of shipping parcels via surface (sea) mail. Of course, it takes much longer than airmail (up to 12 or weeks to the US) but the cost is about 75% less.
