Description

Charlie Parker New Sounds in Modern Music As played by its Creator
Savoy  (MG 9001  Vol. 2)
Mega-rare 1951 recording on a Savoy 10", this is seminal music that changed the course of jazz, this recording features Bird along with Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, John Lewis, and Max Roach, among others.

The thick Microgroove record has maintained a lot of its gloss, and has some scuffing and surface scratching.     Most of the record plays as a very solid VG, with normal surface noise on a record of this age, but the music sounds absolutely wonderful.      There are a couple of VG- moments on side one - track #1 has a few pops at the beginning, and there is a skip in track #2 - other than that, this record plays very nicely.
The cover is in good shape, with some normal age wear and a 2" split on the top seam and a 4" split on the bottom seam.

I will be listing a lot of LP's from the '60's - '80's, as well as rockabilly, R&B, and rock 'n' roll 45 rpm singles from the '50's - '80's.      Please continue to check my store as more titles will be added daily.    If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.       Shipping discounts will be available for multi-unit purchases.

Record grading guidelines below are used to judge the condition of all of the vinyl records that I sell.

All my records are play tested - visual testing provides no idea what a record sounds like, and that's all that really matters, right?

All records are cleaned, stored vertically, and then an anti-static brush is used before playing. Shipping will be in a proper LP shipping box with the record outside of the sleeve in a poly outer jacket.

Near Mint (NM): Near perfect record and cover.     High gloss, and no visible flaws or defects (any manufacturing scuffs should be noted).     Very little to no unexpected surface noise or any other audible defects should be apparent.

Near Mint Minus  (NM-): A high gloss record with maybe the faintest minor flaws present (ex. a couple of faint hairlines, a light paper scuff).     Little unexpected surface noise or other audible issues.      Cover shows no significant ring wear, nor seam splits.

Very Good Plus Plus  (VG++): Only a  small number of minor flaws present (ex. a couple of faint hairlines, a light paper scuff).     Maybe some very light surface noise in a few spots.      A used record that has been very well taken care of. Cover shows very little significant wear.

Very Good Plus (VG+): More signs of light wear but still an excellent condition record with gloss and no groove wear, that plays well.    Any surface noise is minimal and the record is still a very enjoyable listen.   Most used records will fall into this category. Cover may show minor defects including light ring wear, but no seam splits.

Very Good (VG): More obvious wear.    Light scuffs and scratches will be apparent, but no gouges.     Surface noise will be evident on playing, especially in soft passages, and during a song's intro and fade,  but it never overpowers the music.      Cover ring wear and other defects such as minor seam splits or writing are evident.       This is a collection filler.
