Description
Beautiful original 1946 copy of t he Lamplighter collection of Jazz Gems, Vol. 1, honoring Charlie Venturo, featuring excerpts from Hollywood radio broadcasts. This is essentially Venturo's first ever album, and a wonderful collection of early West Coast jazz music. Features a number of great West Coast players such as Red Callender, Barney Kessell, Milt Raskin, Barney Bigard, and so on. Some copies were sent out as a Record-of-the-Month selection, and those copies have an 8x10 glossy promo photo of Charlie taped into the album. This one has that photo, making it a special copy. All three discs are in gorgeous condition, with maybe one or two light superficial sleeve scuffs but barely. They play flawlessly and just beautifully. The cover has only light wear. This is a top copy. The tunes included are:
Stompin' at the Savoy parts 1 & 2 The Man I Love parts 1 & 2 Charlie Boy I Don't Know Why I Love You Like I Do
