Donatina & Ettore De Carolis (Chetro & Co) - Castello di carte
Italian pressing, I dischi dello Zodiaco VPA 8328 (1976)
Very rare and still undiscovered 1976 Lp by Ettore De Carolis and his wife Donatina Furlone aka the mighty Chetro & Co. group who released that fantastic 45 in 1968 on Parade label. A project inspired by the Gianni Rodari's book "Castello di carte" and also used as the original soundtrack of the homonymous 1976 RAI Tv show.
An amazing psychedelic folk record with a distinctive medieval feeling. Superb progressive folk music featuring their homemade "Violaccia" (an eastern sounding Cello) plus loads of distorted, echoed, wah-wah and classical guitars.
Mindblowing instrumental passages alternating the superb female singing, spoken words and scat vocals by Donatina De Carolis (way better than Donella Del Monaco) plus more fantastic vocals by Ettore and their two children Chetro(!) and Ninna. Listen to the clip! Great!
