CHICAGO BLUES LP: COLOSSAL BLUES Bea & Baby LITTLE MACK Sunnyland BOBBY SAXTON
Bea & Baby 075 927. Compilation of vintage Bea & Baby singles with some tracks from a new (1971) session and a 1970 Willie Williams tape. Little Mack, Sunnyland Slim, Bobby Saxton, Andrew McMahon, W.W. (Willie) Williams. Introduction by Cadillac Baby (Narvel Eatmon). Although the cover states “recorded live at Cadillac Baby’s show lounge, 1958,” these are all studio recordings with applause overdubbed by a small group of people (including me and my ex-wife Amy van Singel) who attended the 1971 session. (We took the photos on the back cover.) Some names are misspelled on the back: Andrew McMahon (Howlin’ Wolf’s bass player) is McMoldow and Cadillac Baby’s real name Narvel is spelled Narbel. Sunnyland Slim’s name appears as Sunnie Land on the record label. Record VG+, jacket VG+, minor edge and ring wear.

LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor).
A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records. P records are likely to be unplayable.
[+ and ? denote in-between grades. Grades with a slash in between indicate the condition of Side A/Side B.]
Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
