Description
This is a fine original U.S. pressing copy of the debut double LP by Chicago Transit Authority, subsequently known simply as Chicago, released in 1969. Best remembered as the purveyor of mildly adventurous MOR hits like "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" (included here), "25 or 6 to 4," and "Saturday in the Park," the group displays a true sense of adventure on much of their debut. The solo instrumental "Free Form Guitar" may be pure indulgence, but the group's reworking of the the Spencer Davis Group's "I'm a Man" is more successful, and the extended suite on side 4, "Prologue"/"Someday"/"Liberation," which takes as its jumping-off point the events at the 1968 DNC in their home city, is very much in step with the times. The gatefold jacket is in fine condition with light ring, corner, spine, and seam wear (EX+). Disc 1 is clean with just a few hairline scrapes, while disc 2 is clean with some light scuffing, and both play close to M- with occasional light surface noise (EX+). The record comes with one original label inner sleeve (the other sleeve is generic white).
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
