Vinyl is VISUALLY Graded: Strong VG+.
AND, we did listen to this GREAT interview all the way through, and it plays fine,
with very light low-level hissing from the vinyl.
This is a particularly LONG record, about 55 minutes, which means each side is almost a half-hour long.
The longer a record is, the lower it is "cut" or mastered, which means that one can hear more of the vinyl and less of the music or speech, hence the light, even, unobtrusive background hiss.
The record plays great all the way through on both sides, with no pops or skips or annoying problems.
The B-side was pressed slightly off-center, but this is only noticeable at the very end when there is a brief amount of music to close this interview.
The jacket is in excellent condition: the front is still semi-glossy and clean looking.
The back has yellowing, and the upper-right corner of the back laminate is torn a bit.
The autograph is in the upper-left corner quadrant of the back, see our embedded photos.
The spine and seams are intact.
Other than the autograph, there are
NO holes or notches, NO writing, NO stickers or sticker residue, NO seam splits.
This rare record is a long interview conducted in 1958 with Ms. Jorgensen by Nipsey Russell, who almost effortlessly comes up with euphemisms for sex. "Have you ever had any sincere entreaties for a romantic interlude?" he asks with typical formality. She articulates ideas about gender, self-identity and homosexuality that sound well ahead of her time, while also projecting a demure model of femininity that seems distinctly of the 1950's and early, pre-hippy 60's. It's a surprisingly sharp-witted and self-confident persona that manages to be radical and conservative at the same time. This interview was the basis of several off-Broadway "plays" or performances from 2006 that were verbatim recreations of the dialogue on this great record.
