Background -
The nicest copy of this rare violin record we have ever had. Has the earliest record label, in stereo, with superb sound. Made in Germany, issued in the early 1960s in near mint minus collectors grade condition throughout featuring Wolfgang Marschner on the violin, accompanied by Karin Eisner on piano.Wolfgang Marschner (born May 23, 1926 in Dresden) is a German violinist, violin pedagogue, composer and conductor.
Wolfgang Marschner was born in Dresden in 1926. He comes from an old family of musicians, whose most famous representative is the opera composer Heinrich Marschner (1795-1861). As a four-year-old he became the youngest member of the orchestra school of the Staatskapelle Dresden. He made his debut at nine with Tartinis Teufelstriller Sonata and continued his studies at the age of fourteen at the Mozarteum Salzburg, where he performed, inspired by Váša P?íhoda, Clemens Krauss and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, his 1st divertimento for string quartet under the direction of First Concertmaster of the Mozarteum Orchestra. Marschner was conscripted into military service at the age of seventeen, and was only able to continue his studies in Hamburg with Erich Röhn, the excellent concert master of the Berliner Philharmoniker, after the end of the war. At the same time, at the age of nineteen, he became a soloist, concertmaster and second conductor of the Hanover Opera House Orchestra, performing the Brahms Violin Concerto with Franz Konwitschny, who engaged him in further concerts with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. In 1947 he became concertmaster of the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, with whom he played the German premiere of the Violin Concerto by William Walton and overnight as conductor the production of the operetta "Ein Walzertraum" by Oscar Straus with the Viennese singer Gretl Schörg.
At the age of twenty-six, Marschner became a professor at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen and then taught at the Musikhochschule Köln from 1958 to 1963. As a principal of the Cologne string quartet with Maurits Frank, the cellist of the Amar Hindemith Quartet, he combined the worldwide engagements of the quartet in a universal manner with his duties as a soloist, conductor, composer and educator. As a representative of the German violin school he was also a professor at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music and from 1963/64 at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau. Marschner gave masterclasses in Beijing, Ankara, London, Weimar, Warsaw, ?a?cut Castle in Poland and in St. Petersburg. He is juror of many international competitions and founded in 1976, in Freiburg i.Br. the International Violin Competition "Ludwig Spohr". He had his own "chamber orchestra Wolfgang Marschner" in the 1970s. Marschner founded the "Deutsche Spohr Akademie" (international masterclasses for violin, viola, cello), and since 1976 the Marschner Festival Hinterzarten in the Black Forest has been promoting young artists with the performance of little performed masterpieces of chamber music for strings. This has been taking place since 1992 in conjunction with a three-year International Marschner Competition for Violin and Viola, as well as with the Marschner-initiated International Violin and Violin Music Competition "Jacobus Stainer". Marschner continued as director of the "Pflüger Foundation", which maintains a special school in its own building with its own teachers, and educates the young musician until the age of 16 and their students and guests in the chamber music interaction promotes. Leading Marschner was further in the Freiburg Mario Musik Verlag.
It was an urgent concern for Marschner to devote himself to the study of the New Viennese School, which was banned in Germany before 1945, and centered on Arnold Schönberg. His path led to the "Kranichstein Music Prize" in 1954 to many works of the representatives of this circle and their successors.

CONDITION Details:
The LP JACKET is in near mint minus overall condition! The jacket has NO seam splits. The corners and seams are solid with just some light shelf wear. The jacket is laminated with a clear plastic, front and back. The colors on the jacket are sharp and clean! Nicest copy we have ever had - see pictures with this listing as they are of the actual item.
The LP is in near mint minus overall condition! There are NO serious marks on the vinyl. But it does have some very light spider marks on the LP (caused by sliding the LP in and out of the inner sleeve) and perhaps a finger print or two. Most of the time, spider marks are not audible, but it really depends on the sensitivity of your audio gear. Considering the vintage of this LP, the vinyl looks near mint minus overall. However, this is not a new audiophile LP....some extraneous sound is inevitable and should be expected for a vintage LP. This LP retains much of the original gloss and sheen! There are NO serious spindle marks on the record labels either. - nicest copy we have ever had.A Short Note About LP GRADING -

- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.

For best results, always properly clean your LPs before playing them.
The LP is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).
