CIRKUS - One
A little played and wonderful condition copy of this 1973 UK 1st press prog gem - early 70's prog at it's very best
Year/Label : 1973 UK RCB (projects)Label number : STEREO RCB 1
Matrix numbers : CIRC-1-A1 (crossed out) RCB-1-A1 / CIRC-1-B1 (crossed out) RCB-1-B1
Stampers : A 1 / A 2
Near mint (NM) condition, gleaming, jet black sheen vinyl with earliest "A1/A2" dead wax stampers. Hard to find any marks on the vinyl, even with close inspection under a bright light - clearly this is a record that has been played only a handful of times. Near mint (NM) condition labels - unmarked except for two very small and very faint spindle trail next to the centre hole on the side 2 label, further supporting the view that this record has only been played a few times. Very good plus (VG+) condition non-laminated gatefold outer sleeve with all of the beautiful and iconic art work, colours and text remaining beautifully intact with crystal clear definition still. The edges, including the spine, remain firm but there are intermittent light scuff marks on each. The spine is rigid with all spine text remaining intact and legible.. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with just a little rubbing on each, slightly more pronounced on the bottom right corner. The only other blemishes are just a little (5cm) of edge fraying towards the top of the reverse side opening edge, accompanied by a non-obvious 6mm horizontal tear emanating from that same edge, just the hint of a little very mild ring wear on the reverse side, and some very light shelf wear resulting in some very mild sporadic abrasions towards the edges on both of the front and reverse sides. The inside of the gatefold is hard to fault, by the way (just a couple of very, very light inconsequential handling marks - I'm being really picky now!). These 1st press non-laminated gatefold sleeves are notorious for their fragility so to come across one in such impressive condition as this, even though it does have a couple of minor flaws, is rare indeed. Also remember that here were only 1000 of these ever printed and each is now 50 years of age! Superb, near mint (NM) STEREO audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, interference, distortion or background crackle. This record plays as well as it did on the first day it was purchased, an unbelievable 50 years ago! Great tone with crystal clear vocals and instrumentation and every track a brilliant listen. What a fabulous prog LP this is - every track is an absolute cracker! Comes with original and near perfect condition poly-lined plain white inner sleeve with no seam splits, one single mild crease, no edge fraying and no age discolouration.
What a true classic of prog rock this album is, and surely there cannot be many better condition copies of this 1973 1st press prog gem than this!
