I've Got My Own Thing Going
Featuring ERIC CLAPTON/JIMMY PAGE/BILL WYMAN
"When I was working for Polydor in London, I would fly in to New York with a stack of records and bring them to various record companies to sub-license them. I took "I've Got My Own Thing Going" to United Artists because Murray Deutche, who was head of Publishing was also a mentor to me. The writer of the song, Eddie Reeves was signed to U.A. during the sixties. When Eddie played me "I've Got My Own Thing Going" he sang it with a twang and kind of country. I really liked the tune and when I was producing my own records at Polydor, I decided to record it. Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Bill Wyman played on: "I've Got My Own Thing Going"; "Here I Go Again" Artist was me. What I remember is that they had specific guitar parts written out by the arranger, except where they improvised, which is at the beginning of "I've Got My Own Thing Going" and on "Here I Go Again"..where Eric played my own 12 String". EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
