RARE 1965 ORIGINAL "S.F. SOUND" COLLECTIBLE!
THE BEAU BRUMMELS
Laugh Laugh
\ USA - VAULT RECORDS - 114
CLEAN...Original 1965 first pressing vinyl with tremendous San Francisco hippie poster art cover ... This one album is all you need for it is filled with brimming with memorable/catchy jangle guitar folk/garage gems up and down both sides...
The Beau Brummels' with a sound hinting at jangle guitar garage, folk rock, and proto-psychedelia, is a cozy slice of 1960's musical Americana. The San Francisco quintet borrowed much in style and structure from British Invasion bands, and in retrospect the Brummels' music compares favorably to many of their English contemporaries'. In part this has to do with the strength of the band's original material, all of which was written and arranged by guitarist and founding member Ron Elliott.
Highlights include:
Laugh Laugh (1964): A major major/minor key pop masterpiece.
Still in Love with You Baby (1964): Snappy harpsichord rock.
Just a Little (1965): See “Laugh Laugh.”
You Tell Me Why (1965): great jangle guitar melodic gem.
Don’t Talk to Strangers (1965): See above with beautiful melody.
In Good Time (1965): Production/arranging sophistication really starts to seep in here.
Good Time Music (1965): This John Sebastian cover 45 doesn’t really sound like ‘em, but so what. Name drops the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Sad Little Girl (1965): See “You Tell Me Why.”
