Description

CLEM EAST What Are You Trying To Do To Me! / Jupiter 45, MR Records, Sydney Australia 1970s.

There is a blog (check Google) that has some info and raves about this 45, calling it punk n'roll with Deniz Tek style guitar, and describing the 6 and a half minute B side as "near Stoogean".  Responses to the blog suggest the record came out in Bondi in 1979.  One response is from Clem East who was the writer/singer/bass player.  He is still active.

Until I read all this, I would have sworn the 45 was from around 1973-75 and that Clem East was surely a guitarist!  The A side is like a heavy Chuck Berry or Bo Diddley -  I suppose you could place it among the late 70s sound of bands such as The Count Bishops or Little Bob Story, and it does have a wild guitar break.   The B side builds up moodily to a mumbled vocal about "high time we looked to man's salvation today" and an extended piece of blistering guitar.   More a sort of prog hard rock sound, but you could link it with the Detroit sound.  Guitar is perhaps by Rick Stone.  Good stuff!

A side Excellent condition, B side has a few very small scratches at the start, giving some light crackle for a short period.  Otherwise also Excellent.  I believe it originally came with an insert, which I don't have.

grading

Grading done visually and by playing a few sections. Any scratches tested.

MINT means as new. If the record appears almost unplayed I use NEAR MINT. This is not a common grading.

EXCELLENT means played but well cared for, very little (if any) lessening in sound quality, no scratches. Cover may have very light wear. A quality used record!

VG+ means definitely used but without any major deterioration in sound quality, may have some light surface wear, surface marks or small, light scratches. These will be detailed in my description. Cover has some wear, but no major creases or seam splits. A very good record!

VG means played to the point of developing surface wear, and/or some deeper scratches. These will be detailed. Cover displays general wear and tear.

Anything less will be described and not given a grading.
