Description

Clifford Jordan – In The World Strata East SES 1972-1 1972

This is a truly beautiful record. The first record in the "Dolphy Series" that was dedicated to the memory of Eric Dolphy, this one maybe befits him best because so much of the music is just plain beautiful. One the first side, the group is astounding, Jordan with Julian Priester, Don Cherry, Wynton Kelly, Wilbur Ware, Richard Davis and Al Tootie Heath. "Vienna" which clocks in at 17 minutes, is an all-time favorite, because of the beautfiul interplay between Clifford Jordan and Don Cherry. "Doug’s Prelude" is also a beautiful track that benefits from Cherry’s influence and Julian Priester’s trombone playing. Kenny Dorham, Roy Haynes and Eddie Blackwell are on the second side. On the great records on this far too obscured record label. Music was recorded in 1969, but not released until 1972.

Cover/Record: VG/NM Cover has some ring wear, seam split repaired by tape, some wear on the front and back sleeve has also been similarly repaired by tape. The record however doesn’t have a single mark, its pristene and gorgeous and plays that way.

Track Listing: Side 1: Vienna, Doug’s Prelude. Side 2: Ouagoudougou, 872.
