COIL - 'The Ape of Naples' + 'The New Backwards' 4LP Boxset
Extremely rare, one of only 17 copies with silk screen printed sleeves.
Important Records found 17 copies of this amazing boxset that were missing the inner sleeve for either the 3rd or 4th disc or both. So they decided to make something rather nice out of this and in place of the misssing sleeves substituted screen printed sleeves, hand printed using aspects of the original artwork. This copy has screen printed sleeves on both the 3rd and 4th discs. Near mint condition.
High quality 4xLP boxset, limited edition of 1500 copies. Released on Important Records (imprec174). Each LP is pressed on heavy duty 180g vinyl and is packaged in it's own printed sleeve. Also includes a poster. Everything is housed in a deluxe box. Beautiful artwork throughout!!! The first three discs are single sided with engravings especially designed by Ian Johnstone on the reverse side, and contain original audio of 'The Ape of Naples'. A fourth double sided disc called 'The New Backwards', contains material with the same pedigree as 'The Ape of Naples' - in other words tracks that were originally recorded at Trent Reznor's New Orleans studio in the 90s but never released until now. These remaining tracks - the last remaining major unreleased work by Coil, yet unused on 'The Ape of Naples', were reworked in Bangkok last year by Peter Christopherson & Danny Hyde.
