Description
Sigh......yet another Vertigo listing which I hate to do but major building work to fund at this moment in time so hope this goes to a good home.
The gatefold sleeve is in fair nick and there are no splits or rips, sticker tears or defacements. But these non-laminated carded sleeves are always subject to wear as this one shows. Specifically there is wear on the spine rear side and corners plus the front top and bottom edges. Nothing outrageous as the photos show. The brown /white inner spread is nice. I rate the overall condition 7.5 / 10 but could be an 8!
The Vertigo polythene lined inner bag is in unmarked and untorn shape but does show the usual suspects of age and glue browning.
Next, the vinyl which is flat, no dishing and both labels are clean. I always like to say the spindle holes are tight and show evidence of a few spins at best. This is again so in this case. On the run-off grooves as best as I can see, side A machine etched matrix no. is 886775 1 Y x 1 420 1 1 followed by 2 3 I think further along the run off. Side B matrix no. is 886775 2 x Y x 1 420 1 1 2 2. Note that the 'x's are crossed out figures but hard to read. And why the etched matrix 886775 when the label sub-number is 847900? Because this record does not have a Philips credit, is this a later 1969 offering than that issued (one of the very first Vertigos) in October of that year. Dunno, over to the aficionados!
For the vinyl playing surface itself, it's shiny and fresh looking. Yet angling under a searching light reveals the usually reported (by me at least) paper or otherwise scuff and handling marks. Of course my grading is subjective but I need to err on the cautious side to prevent buyer disappointment and grief in which case I rate the condition as 7 /10.
No reserve and auction will run to the end. Thanks.
