Description
Colosseum 'Valentyne Suite' 1969 UK original vinyl album on the Vertigo big swirl labels, catalogue number VO 1 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side A: 886775 1Y*1 420 1 1 2 2 Side B: 886775 2*Y*1 420 1 1 2 2
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Both sides have a liberal scattering of light surface scratches, most likely caused by bag movement, and a few more noticeable ones which may be light stylus contact, but I cannot feel any of them. The record plays very clearly all the way through with very little lessening of the sound quality just some occasional light crackle which is not very noticeable. The only point worth a special mention is that on Side A, track 1 'The Kettle' - when I first played it through I noticed a small skip at the three quarter way point. I could not see anything so I increased the anti-skate and played it again and that time there was only a click. However, bidders should be aware that there may be one short skip on this track - there are no sticks. Generally the record sounds really great.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have quite a lot of spindle lines but there is no writing, no damage.
The cover is a gatefold type, it does not have any coating or laminate. The front surface is in very good condition with just a few light creases, a small rub mark and a few small dents, but viewed straight on this is all barely visible. The back is similar but it has a light brown stain top right where the shrub land meets the sky and in top left corner there is a small '45/-' in biro (this would have been the price of 45 shillings when new). The centre piece has a light crescent crease at the top of the fold line and very slight rub wear, but otherwise is excellent. The top and bottom edges and corners have rub wear at the tips.
The spine is excellent, just some rub wear at the ends and a few tiny scuffs but it's in good shape and fully readable.
The inner sleeve is the original Vertigo big swirl which is poly-lined and intact - no seam splits, no tears.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say the cover is 'very good+' and the record and audio are 'very good+' with just a note about the short skip on the first track.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
