Description

Original 1969 UK Vertigo pressing (VO 1).

The gatefold sleeve is in Very Good condition overall no creasing apart from a light one running in from the opening edge towards the candlestick on the back.  There is general edge wear and corner rubbing as the sleeve is unlaminated and therefore susceptible to such damage.  There is a little surface rub on the front just above the 'T' of the title and a small white sticker with the number 12 on it to the top right of the front cover.  The inside part of the gatefold has been glued on slightly askew (it was made like this) resulting in it projecting slightly from the rear part of the sleeve and thus fraying slightly at the edge (see photo 7).

The original poly-lined Vertigo 'Swirl' sleeve is present and is in Near Mint condition.

On to the record, there are multiple hairlines on both sides but no scratches or scuffs as such.  There is some surface noise but generally not obtrusive, largely due to the loud nature of the music, it is only really noticeable at the start of the 'suite' on side two.  I believe the vinyl would benefit from a clean which I think would reduce this.  There are noticeable spindle marks around both holes.

I don't think there were too many different pressings of the original issue but for those who are interested the matrix numbers are - Side 1:  886 775 1Y*1 420 and Side 2: 886 775 2*Y*1 420
