This is beautiful and dynamic music & very well recorded. It is performed by Lovro von Matacic conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra. Album first released in1959. Features Borodin's Prince Igor Suite (including the Polovtsian Dances) on Side 1 and Moussorgsky's A Night on a Bare Mountain and Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Festival Overture.

I once owned 72 lineal feet of mostly pristine LP’s, many played maybe once or not at all — I was collecting way too much! I pared down to a smaller collection after selling my state-of-the-art stereo system (VPI turntable / Graham tonearm / Benz Micro cartridge) about 20 + years ago. This record has been stored unplayed under ideal conditions since that disposal. My decision to end my "high-end" playing days was also due to a deteriorating hearing condition. I have only played this LP twice, once back then in my "high-end" days and once again recently before offering it now for sale.

Overall LP condition: Visually overall, it is excellent (no scratches). It is in very nice shape for a 65 year old LP! It plays flat too. The LP’s spine hole is clean and round. The two LP photos are rendered very low in contrast in an attempt to show detail (there is some glare unfortunately).

Overall character of play: It plays well — but seems to be recorded at a lower level, compared to the 1963 issue Columbias I have heard and dynamic range may be a little bit lower. Background vinyl noise is low - the Degritter record cleaning certainly aids in lowering background sounds! There are many quiet passages that sound nice.
I have no qualms representing this particular LP as sounding quite nice overall, with "defects" noted below having minimal impact on the music. The "defects" I'm referring to mostly are what I feel are manufacturing issues that produce very light sounding thumps in sections of the music. To me they are very soft and also almost drowned out by music. But I priced this LP low because they exist.
The following observations come from what I detected in a single play and the loudness of any described "sounds"is subjective obviously.   There were NOT any really loud pops or tics.
Side 1 Band 1 About 1/2" into the LP, there is an area with some soft "scratchyness"  for about 3-4 rotations.  Then about 10 low level "tic-thumps" about 1" into music, which tends to minimizes their impact and detection. There are probably more of these light "temps" than I personally can detect because of the dramatic music.
Band 2 two light tic sounds: one before music starts and one just after it starts.
Band 3 A light tic about 1/2 inch in and one near end.
Side 2 Band 1   Several soft "tic-thumps" heard about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in and maybe further into music (similar in character to side 1). One tic near end of piece.
Band 2 Some light "thumps" at start. Two light tics: one about 1/2 inch in and another half way through the work.
I need to emphasize, I can not hear really high frequency light tics, if present.  I doubt that is a problem due to the record's condition, plus it has been cleaned multiple times with my Degritter on the longest cycle (app 15+ minutes of ultrasonic treatment.
Jacket Condition is very good. Front art work is laminated - and the LP has left a light imprint of it’s outer edge that you can see in the right light because the jacket material is thin.   The art work is fairly clean but there is one sizeable scuff or rub mark on the laminate surface in the area of the Moussorgsly text (above and below it) but no peeling. There is some glare in the photo.
Back text is very clean and readable. The LP spine is clean and readable. The structural integrity of the jacket is excellent. On a few LP's I bought about 30 years ago from Australia, the owner wrote a "T" in the upper right area of the text. This is one of them.
The LP comes with a quality 6 mil outer sleeve over the jacket and the LP is inserted in a new anti-static 3mil sleeve. When shipped the LP will be removed from jacket to prevent tears & damage to the jacket.

The LP will be shipped insured. Media Mail is a touch slower but inexpensive.
Equipment used to evaluate and care for the record: VPI Scout turntable & Ortophon Black MM cartridge with Shibata stylus. Each LP is ultrasonically cleaned for a minimum of 15 minutes by a Degritter record cleaning machine and a de-ionizing clean air tool used instead of brushes.
