  MAHLER Symphony No 4  

vinyl LP on COLUMBIA SAX 2441 UK  STEREO  Rare 1962 pressing 

I have acquired a large classical collection of wonderful recordings from a very keen and dedicated collector.

They are all mostly from the late 50s to mid 60s - Something of a Golden Age in Classical recording

All records are inspected very carefully and 

Gradings are based on Record Collector magazine.

I try to only offer recordings in a minimum of excellent Condition unless it is something particularly rare when I will do my best to describe any visual or audible flaws 

Mahler Symphony No 4 in G with Elisabeth Schwarzkopff  Soprano

Performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra Conducted by otto Klemperer


First Edition pressing on COLUMBIA SAX 2441  Silver and Turquoise label     MATRIX  YAX 760- 2   YAX 761 -8

CONDITION  

Side 1 Just under Excellent Visually with 2 light surface marks ( about 6mm) and (15mm) on the 

Second  movement, which was inaudible on my deck ( Goldring Lencko) 

and audibly  Excellent  - 2 light pops for one rev midway  First  movement and very light crackles for 3 revs towards end of first movement


Side 2 Very Good  Visually  with 2 light surface marks both of 2.5cm at begining of third movement and a 5mm surface mark at end of 4th movement 

 And Audibly Very Good There were occasional  light pops and soft tics 2   light pops midway the third movement and 3 slightly louder pops for 3 Revs 

towards the end of the 3rd movement 


Sleeve

The front  and rear  Sleeve-   Excellent  Complete with original Columbia Inner Sleeve


The fourth Symphony was finally finished in 1900  

and features Elisabeth Sshwarzkopf singing the song 

Das himmilische leben from the last movement  which  concerns a child’s vision of heaven.

The fourth is Mahlers most performed symphony .


A highly regarded recording complimented by an attractive laminated sleeve design painting by Casper David Frederich
