"COMANCHE" (1956) Music by HERSCHEL BURKE GILBERT   "COMANCHE" is among the rarest North American Soundtracks, and one of the few released on CORAL Records.  It was never re-issued in North America, nor is it likely to be.    The western starred Dana Andrews, Linda Cristal and Kent Smith. (Linda would gain her greatest fame some years later in the television series "The High Chaparral").   This original U.S. pressing of the CORAL LP is not up to my usual standards, but its genuine super-rare status makes it a worthy collectable nonetheless.  The cover is in remarkably good condition, though, with the exception of a seam split at the bottom. The great cover art showing Linda and an Indian camp is so of its era, making it a true find for that fact alone. The back cover photo of Linda's character hoisting her skirt is another mid-fifties trademark cheesecake type pic.   The vinyl has a number of surface marks and superficial scratches, and one scratch that can be heard across one track (Band 2 - Side 2).  But despite this, and some surface noise, it plays just fine.   Alfred Perry wrote the liner notes for each of the tracks ( telling the story along the way), as well as the lyrics for the main theme song called "A MAN IS AS GOOD AS HIS WORD", sung over the film credits by CORAL artists, THE LANCERS.   There are a couple of other songs in the score, but neither the songs or the singers are credited.   The CORAL number is CRL 57046.  The cover alone is worth the price of ownership to a die-hard collector of vintage soundtracks.   PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:   DISREGARD ANY INFORMATION OUTSIDE THIS DESCRIPTION.
