Mint 100 Greatest Recordings: ‘The 100 Greatest Recordings of all time’ from the Franklin Mint has been called the ultimate private library of fine recorded music. Every recording was selected by a distinguished panel of music authorities. The library was first announced on the 100th anniversary of Thomas Edison’s invention of the phonograph. Each recorded treasure was pressed with a special vinyl formulation that enabled a clear, quiet playing surface a more rigid LP disk. Every record was pressed in an atmosphere controlled“clean room.” each vinyl record is maroon red.
Each library case includes a specially written and illustrated commentary, by a respected music expert. The composers and their works are discussed in detail, and background information is provided on the orchestras, conductors, ensembles, and featured soloists. The case will also include a letter from the Franklin Mint certifying the record and the contents.
+This set includes 50 boxes or 2 records per box so there are 100 Red/Maroon albums.
+Each sturdy box includes two records in individual paper sleeves separated with a piece of foam along with the Franklin Mint Certification and a biographical booklet on the composer and highlighting other pertinent musical details of the time.
+The outer cases of all are in very good condition to Near MINT condition. In fact, 23 of the boxes are still shrink wrapped so 46 records are Near Mint. Note the cellophane is sealed but but may be split/torn on a few - Remarkable since this set is nearly 40 years old. The picture shows that the embossed gold print on some of the end caps are faded and no longer legible. Aside from this there is NO significant damage to the cases other than occasional scuffing, scratches and dust from handling or storage. There is absolutely no damage whatsoever to the records inside. Remember 23 of the two set cases have never been seen the light of day and the remainder are all in pristine near mint condition. It is hard to tell if they were ever played. However the certification cover letter is missing from at least one case.
Volume 45/46 was purchased to complete this set and opens slightly differently but the contents are the same and is also in very good condition.
