THE COMPLETE BLUE NOTE 45 SESSIONS OF IKE QUEBEC. Mosaic MR3-121. 3-LP boxed set with booklet.

Long out of print, this is the first complete collection of tenor sax giant Ike Quebec's Blue Note 45s, recorded expressly for 45 RPM length, which Mosaic, that sine qua non of reissue houses, released in 1987 on a heavy, high-quality vinyl only. It follows the high standards of all Mosaic releases, with the LP-sized box (even for later CD boxes) and the oversized booklet. The three LPs are in Mosaic's fine rice-paper sleeves. The large 16-page booklet has a comprehensive discography of all Quebec's Blue Note recordings from 1944 to 1962 (the material here was recorded from 1959-62), detailed notes on these particular recordings, a bio of Quebec, and an essay on Blue Note 45s, along with numerous photographs as well.

This is one of only 7500 sets made (this particular release was not numbered separately).

This is my personal copy, bought new from Mosaic. I played the LPs once only on a high-end turntable to tape them, and they have never been played again. As a result, condition is naturally near mint, as is the booklet, which, like the records, shows no flaws. Condition of the box is near mint as well, and the silver stamping on the spine is as bright as the day I received it.

Note that the scan makes the box cover photo appear more blue than it really is -- in reality it's more black, white, and gray (the camera must have picked up the blue from the rug on which I shot it).

A marvelous set -- the first complete release of this material.

Note that there is no reserve on this item, so there's no playing around with bids to find the reserve. The minimum listed is the minimum I'm willing to accept. I am also happy to send this set to collectors world-wide -- shipping charges will be my actual postage charges plus the costs of my sturdy shipping boxes (I use one inside another for extra safety).

You may find an occasional set the equal of this in terms of condition, but you are unlikely to find one better.
