This is the band edition test pressing of Initial Records' BLACK ON BLACK: A Tribute To Black Flag compilation LP from 2002. There were 53 test presses made to share between all of the bands and a couple of us at the label. The LP has never been played.

This series started as an idea by Hydra Head Records to do a Black Flag tribute (similar to their In These Black Days series) and was set to include ISIS, HOPE CONSPIRACY, The NATIONAL ACROBAT and others. Eventually ISIS dropped out and Hydra Head decided to pass on the project. The NATIONAL ACROBAT broke up, but I was label manager at Initial Records at the time and continued on with the project. The bands were all friends, part of a loose knit group that was touring in the semi-underground world of the late 90s / early 2000s hardcore scene. Most of us toured together at one time or another, all of the bands would come through Louisville and I would set up the show and have everyone stay at my house, and I believe all of the bands played Initial's original Krazy Fest annual festival. Many other bands asked to be a part of the tribute, but I remain happy that we kept it to this smaller number of bands. All of the bands offered up really inspired versions of Black Flag songs and I'm very proud of this project and that most of the people involved are still among my good friends. The entire series was first released as four limited edition seven inch EPs, then later issued on CD and LP by Initial and then reissued with additional bands by ReIgnition Records years after Initial had closed.
These records have been sitting in my record collection for over ten years now and I figured I'd offer them up to see what interest is out there. The Buy It Now and reserve prices might be a little high as I'm not really sure what these are worth, but I'm getting financing together an expensive project and thought I'd put this out there to see how it turns out.
