Here's something to excite the hordes of Julian Cope fans - and anyone interested in early 1980s post-punk indie music. Cold War Psychedelia dips into the archives of the iconic artist and his band the Teardrop Explodes, presenting a mixture of unheard 1982 demos and spoken word heavy oddities from 1989, most of which are shot through with evocative Cold War paranoia. Blending poetic vocals with oddball, psychedelic guitars, psych-funk organs, organic and electronic beats, and sound collage style prototype sampling techniques, the 12 tracks on show are fuzzy and lo-fi, but hugely inventive, evocative and largely quite strange. Basically, it's Julian Cope at his eccentric, otherworldly best.
