This is one of the 50 copies hand-modified by the artist.****** Rec:m (unplayed) Cov:ex ****** Two important pieces for Gamelan by the fluxus artist and composer Philip Corner played by members of gamelan "Son of Lion". "GAMELAN" (1975), the first piece of this series, sound ideal: resonant metals - favor the low register. Add sound strata from the bottom - each is fixed, unchangeable - once netered, they continue to the end; there should be subltle intensity changings. It should be long. Instruments: gamelan Kyai Muntjar. Recorded at Wesleyan University, February 28, 1981. "Barcelona Cathedral", played by members of "Son of Lion" on instruments constructed by Barbara Benary. Recorded in New York City in 1978. Minimalistic in a sinister and obscure way, conceptual and concrete! Included in Broken Music catalogue. ****** Philip Corner was not satisfied with the back-cover and inside photos of this records. So he personally glued original black and white photos to more or less 50 copies. This copy comes from this very limited selection.
