You should never pass up the opportunity to upgrade your collection. They're each very limited in their pressings and disappear with extraordinary quickness from the vinyl market. This causes prices to skyrocket because once they are gone, they are gone forever! Don't second-guess yourself with this chance to upgrade your collection  because before you know it, the opportunity will have passed forever.

Here's How it was done ON THE 45 SPEED TITLES:

Using only the original analog master tapes, remastered and cut all of the titles at AcousTech Mastering, which features a pure Class-A disc-cutting system. AcousTech is located at Record Technology, Inc. the plant where the vinyl was pressed. It is a tremendous sonic advantage to have the pressing plant plating department & mastering room in the same facility as Steve & Kevin could cut a lacquer and plated immediately. This prevents the degradation of the grooves in a lacquer which is very fragile to quick deterioration.

And of course cutting at 45 speed is the audiophile choice for the highes quality. A 45-RPM record is sonically superior to a 33 1/3 variety because of a 35 percent reduction of groove curvature compared to a 33 1/3 cut.. It means that while you can't fit as much music into a 45, the undukations of the groove that your cartridge has to track are stretched over a longer distance. For these reissues, the music was displaced onto four sides, meaning each side contains about 10 minutes of music.

This is the ultimate reissues. The only way you'll get closer to this classic music is to listen to the master tapes or have been in the studio with the artist originally during the actual session.

Anyone who ever heard Count Basie launch his band into a blues with several choruses of effortless piano has lamented that there is far too little of Basie the solist among his recorded legacy. This shortage was rectified to a certain extent by the trio albums Basie made with Ray Bown and Louis Bellson in the Seventies, of which this is the sequel to the For The First Time (PACD-2310-712-2) set of the previous year. Once again, Basie's poetic introductions, precise calibrations of touch and coloration, and definitive swing create a joyous program of four venerable standards and an equal number of new blues. Bellson is empathetic throughout and dances with his brushes on "Sandman," while Brown's robust tone and earth-moving walking lines bring out the best in Basie the soloist and accompanist.

45 Speed – 2 Sealed LP Set – #140

From his earliest days in territory bands in the Southwest, Count Basie had a secret: How to make a collection of instrumentalists generate rhythmic thrust so irresistible that no listener's foot could remain motionless. Basie's swing was the opposite of tense. Relaxed is what it was, and powerful. Through five and a half decades, Basie never lost the ability to infect a band with his swing magic. This edition of his swing machine, recorded just a couple of years before his death, is evidence of the continuing force of that magic.

Although for many fans the equation Count Basie = Big Band Jazz is quite undisputable, one has to agree that when one listens to these eight numbers: less is more when it comes to swing. Bob Thiele, Impulse producer, came to the conclusion that even with a meager budget a whole lot of music with a terrific sound could be squeezed into the grooves. As always, the great soloists of the Basie big band are on top form: first and foremost Frank Wess who demonstrates how rightly popular the flute is for its sound-coloring and as a solo instrument. Thad Jones on the trumpet is quite outstanding in all the numbers – and is equally important as composer and arranger. The "All American Rhythm Group Number 1" consisting of the Count, Freddie Green, Eddie Jones and Sonny Payne deliver one adrenaline-like thrill after another – without ever neglecting the jazz beat. All in all this is an important LP from the Impulse label, whose quality is greatly enhanced by the transparent sound.

It is wonderful albums like this that really benefit from the age of the CD. This was crying out for reissue, and apart from the cardboard sleeve, Verve have treated one of the Count's greatest albums with utmost respect. The lush swing of the Basie band has never sounded happier and the addition of alternate takes is a joy to behold. Listeners will be reminded just how good this band was as they stroll through "Sweety Cakes," add a sheen to Frank Foster's "Shiny Stockings" and rip it apart with Neal Hefti's magnificent "Dinner With Friends." A highly recommended album just bursting with joy.

Editorial reviews ...Count Basie never had a bigger hit than APRIL IN PARIS, and this album--starring the polished arrangements of Thad Jones and Neil Hefti--remains his best-known to this day. In fact, it has become an iconic summation of the Basie Sound....even a non-audiophile...can hear the difference in the Ultradisc...

Sammy Davis & Count Basie - Our Shining Hour - 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE LIMITED EDITION LP

FACTORY SEALED 180 Gram LP - High definition analog vinyl pressing for superior fidelity. The nicest thing you can do for your stylus and ears. The ultimate record – the way music was meant to be heard.

They’d performed together several times onstage, but not until Quincy Jones came up with these brilliant arrangements in 1974 did Sammy Davis and Count Basie finally work together in the studio. Better than with either Tony Bennett or Frank Sinatra, the relaxed swing of Sammy Davis harmonized perfectly with the light swing of Count Basie and his crew. A few assertive notes on the keyboard and the band begins to swing; a snap of the fingers and Sammy Davis’ whole body begins to swing. Just listen to the “New York City Blues” for a wonderful example. In “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Loves You” listen to the voice melting with the band as though it were a musical instrument. “She’s A Woman” is first-class entertainment and the tap dancing in “Bill Basie, Won’t You Please Come Home” is quite unsurpassed.
