The Cramps, formed in the US in the mid-70s and led by Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, always sounded like they'd tuned into a pirate signal the rest of rock music ignored. This sharp-edged compilation pulls together some of their most enduring recordings, where rockabilly is bent out of shape, punk attitude sharpens the attack, and B-movie obsession bleeds into every riff. 'Garbageman' and 'New Kind Of Kick' snap with feral intent, while 'Human Fly' and 'Goo Goo Muck' turn camp theatrics into something genuinely unsettling. Poison Ivy's guitar stays lean and biting throughout, Lux prowls and yelps, and the songs never overstay their welcome.
