Description
This is a fine original U.K. pressing copy of a double LP singles comp by British group Crass, released in 1986. Most probably don't think of Crass as a singles band, and in a conventional sense, they certainly weren't: their 7" tracks are every bit as uncompromising as their LP tracks. The song titles themselves make that clear: "Reality Asylum," "Sheep Farming in the Falklands," "Nagasaki Nightmare," etc. The tracks span the entirety of the group's active years (1977-84). Crass was part of an anarchist commune that engaged in various intertwined political and artistic activities. These activities are documented in the film, There is No Authority but Yourself, which is well worth a view. Crass were very influential in Britain and elsewhere in their day, though more for their politics and as exemplars of early punk's D.I.Y. ideals than for their music. The gatefold jacket is close to M- with light creasing in a couple of corners (EX+). Visually, disc 1 is clean with some wispy hairline scrapes and a fingerprint on side 1, and disc 2 is clean. Both play with minimal surface noise (M-). The record comes with two inserts (both M-): a four-sided foldout with the songs' lyrics and a two-sided insert with a combination group history and apologia entitled "...in Which Crass Voluntarily 'Blow Their Own'."
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
