ONE OF THE RAREST IN MONO!

Another from my personal collection! An awesome original (MONO UK pressing) For any of those who know the records that I list on ebay would know my prime interest is the audio quality, THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME! Please note! I have accumilated  all of the cream albums both stereo and mono UK variations that I know of and in my opinion the original monos can not be surpassed by stereo or any other format on the planet in my opinion,, and are certainly rarer and harder to find in good condition compared to the stereo conterparts!!  true bassey feel and plays through with out distortion and no loud clicks or pops! Please do not underestemate the rarety of this in (mono the rarest and most sought after pressing to find  Mono is the only way to hear this album in my opinion very very rare to find in this condition and mono the rarest and most sought after! This audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies, the bass is so vibrant this nearly shook the house down! Play tested at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! This is the original and rarest 1st issue mono fully laminated E.DAY & CO Printed cover is also in top top condition!

Disraeli Gears is the second album by British blues-rock group Cream. It was released in November 1967 and went on to reach #5 on the UK album chart. Often seen offered for sale with the more common stereo pressing but the earliest and original monos do not come up for sale that often and produce the best audio available in any format in my opinion! It was also their American breakthrough, becoming a massive seller there in 1968, reaching #4 on American charts. The album features the two singles "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of Your Love". By this time, the group was veering quite heavily away from their blues roots to indulge in more psychedelic sounds!.

The title of the album, Disraeli Gears, was actually a bit of an inside joke. Eric Clapton had been thinking of getting a racing bicycle, and was discussing it with Ginger Baker, when Mick Turner, one of the roadies, commented on the performance of "those Disraeli Gears" meaning to say "derailleur gears". The band thought this was hilarious—Benjamin Disraeli was a prominent 19th Century British politician—and decided that it should be the title of their next album. Had it not been for Mick, the album would simply have been entitled Cream!.

Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker all contributed songs with the help of lyricist Pete Brown and producer Felix Pappalardi. The track "Blue Condition" was unusual in that Baker, although by any account not a singer, took the lead vocal. The album was recorded in New York by their American label, the Atco division of Atlantic Records during the band's stay in the United States!.

The psychedelic cover art was created by Australian artist Martin Sharp, who lived in the same building as Clapton at the time of the Chelsea artists colony The Pheasantry. At their first meeting in a London club, Clapton mentioned that he had some music that needed lyrics, so Sharp wrote out a poem he had composed on a napkin and gave it to Clapton, who recorded it as "Tales of Brave Ulysses"!.

When interviewed on the episode of the VH1 show, Classic Albums, which featured Disraeli Gears, Bruce stated that when writing the song "Take it Back", he had been inspired by the contemporary media images of American students burning their draft cards and wrote the song in that spirit of rejecting militarism!!!!

In 2004, the album was released as a 2-disc Deluxe edition including the complete album in both mono and stereo, demos, alternate takes and tracks taken from the band's live sessions on BBC radio!

The Vinyl

On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! This is the original 1st issue ,heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier! In strong light only could possibly any very light whispy surface marks  be seen mainly sleeve removal in my opinion, at least no audio sounding marks or scratches that I heard would cause any loud clicks or pops!

The Audio Quality

Very near perfect audio throughout on my systems! Audio graded at least excellent plus to very near mint!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track as usual on a top system at very loud volume using a dedicated mono cartridge!! and   this is cristal clear and vibrant through out. This plays with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed WHAT SO EVER! In fact this has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 25 years and only initialy ever played a minimal amount of times only! mega mega rare like this in mono! I would class myself as highly critacle! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! Audio is graded at the top! Any remarks that I can make is that I heard three or four static ticks only in one very quiet place only, and minor light crackle may be hear also in isolated quiet places, but nothing consistant throughout the audio.. ( Please note! I play these vinyls at very loud volume and if played at a normal volume this may not even be noticable on some systems in my opinion) You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass in my opinion!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static crackle very light isolated static tick/ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 45 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 45 year old system!

Please note! This has been stored in a case for at least 35 years! Any static crackle that might be heard during some quiet parts could be minimised by constant cleaning before each play in my experiance!, Build up of dust and dirt that has accumilated over the years from the vinyl being stored! laying dormant causes most of this problem so please allow for some light static crackle as  previously mentioned!!!!! I would class myself as highly critical ! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

The Matrix

''594003 A#1'' ''594003 B#2''

The Labels

This features the original ((MONO))blue REACTION  labels in superbe condition (no) nasty writing Please note! I can just barely see a very minimal amount of spider marks which indicates this has only ever been played a minimal amount of times only and certainly not been overplayed at all (very rare for a pressing of this age) ''made in England'' text is featured (this is a UK pressing) little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!!!  GENUINE 45 YEAR OLD PRESSING!!!

The cover.

The condition of this  E.DAY & CO PRINTED cover is AWESOME !!!  Lovely and super glossy laminated front only , Just barely any real main creases to talk of any that there are you would really have to scrutinise this to notice, just very minor whysy laminate creases only and minor whyspy crease marks at the rear, again barely noticable unless looked for. Light rubbing at the spine only noticed if looked for in my opinion. Please note when scrutinised I can see that the laminate has finishes slightly short (see photos , this is common on these early pressings)  (features the mono catalogue number at the rear  (see photos)!  absolutely superbe example throughout!  Try to find better after 39 years! Graded at  least excellent in my opinion!
