Description
Cream 'Disraeli Gears' 1967 UK original vinyl album on the Reaction blue label, catalogue number 593003 (mono)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side One: 593003 Av1 1 1 1 1 Side Two: 593003 Bv1 1 1 6
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Both Side One and Side Two are in remarkably good condition with just a moderate amount of light surface scratches - none that I can feel and both sides play clearly all the way through with excellent sound quality. There is a little light crackle where it can be heard but overall this is really great audio.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have quite a lot of scattered spindle lines and on each side there is a dark oblong sticker removal mark as you can see in the photographs. The Side One removal mark also has a blister line, but neither side is sticky and there is no feel of residue. Other than the spindle marks and label marks, the labels are very clean and tidy. This is the very earliest vinyl pressing of Disraeli with the original miscredits for 'Windfall Music' on Side One' and 'Apple Publishing' on Side Two.
The cover is coated all over (front and back) by a clear laminate and it is in very good condition. There are about six semi circular creases on the right hand side of the cover near the open edge and some surface creases on the other edges, but none of these are very noticeable. The back has three larger creases towards the open edge but again they are not particularly noticeable. The corners, edges and edges have light rub wear.
This is one of the earliest covers ever made and there was a mistake made when assembling it because it was intended to have a thin spine with text on but this has been folded right under the front face and sealed. If you gently pull the front face up a little at the spine you can see the title and group name in the middle underneath, but normally it's not visible. This also explains why the front face is misaligned with the back at the open edge. In summary, the spine is there undamaged and intact but it's covered by the front.
I think the inner sleeve is the original, although I can't be absolutely sure. It was cream but has gone light brown over all of the surface, it remains poly-lined and fully intact although there are a few holes in the polythene of the circular viewing section.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I think the record is 'very good+' the audio is 'very good+' to 'excellent' and the cover is 'very good+' (bidders will no doubt make their own adjustment to grading for the sticker removal marks on each label as it will make little or no difference to some and more to others).
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
