CREAM "FRESH CREAM'" 1996 U.S. DCC Compact Classics limited edition (#0694) LP. Exact reissue of 1967 Atco debut LP (SD33-206) w/4 bonus tracks! 180 gram pure virgin vinyl analogue pressing. Remastered by Steve Hoffman. Stereo LPZ 2015 M-/M.
The formation of Cream in 1966 led to several new terms being added to our musical lexicon- Power Trio", "Supergroup" & "Heavy". The 3 piece consisted of Eric Clapton, the guitar-god who had previously been in the Yardbirds & John Mayall's Blues Breakers, Ginger Baker on drums & Jack Bruce on bass & most of the lead vocals. They had both been members of the Graham Bond Organization. Released on Reaction Records (a custom imprint of manager/producer Robert Stigwood) in late 1966, the American version on Atco added their second single "I Feel Free" & omitted "Spoonful" but that 6:37 minute blues workout has been reinstated on this LP as one of the bonus tracks. This album explored many blues tracks from the pre-war "Four Until Late" by Robert Johnson & "I'm So Glad" by Skip James to the post-war "Rollin' & Ttumblin" by Muddy Waters & the aforementioned "Spoonful" from Howlin' Wolf. The other bonus tracks are their first U.K. single "Wrapping Paper", the inevitable "The Coffee Song" & the mono version of "Rollin' & Tumblin'". They are getting their sound together on this LP but all the elements are here in this landmark debut. Great sound w/mastering by Steve Hoffman. An analogue pressing on 180 gram virgin vinyl. Gold sticker on the back stating: "DCC Compact Classics Limited Edition #0694".

Laminated cover is intact & retains its original look & feel with no fading, writing or split seams. It does have minor storage wear but looks nearly new. Overall the cover still rates a near MINT grading. Record sounds great with no scratches or scuffs. Vinyl still retains its original sheen- rated MINT. Bought new & played once! The white, silver & black DCC Compact Classics labels look great & indicate that it is an original 1996 pressing.
