CREAM - WHEELS OF FIRE - double LP PROMOTIONAL WHITE LABEL COPY
SD 2-700 - ATCO RECORDS - MONO COPY
What we have here is a hard to find WHITE LABEL PROMO LP, made for radio stations and promotional outlets only.
ATCO white labels were never released to the general public. Even better than that...... IT IS A MONO COPY!!
The records are housed in a regular issue stereo cover. To the best of our knowledge, there were no mono covers made for this record. The record labels have no text on them denoting stereo or mono either. SO....HOW DO WE KNOW IT IS MONO?? Because Malcolm listened to it on headphones, and he says MONO!! What a surprise!!
The records are both in excellent shape, no spindle marks, both discs would be near mint, if not for one small short - 3/16" - and swift small scratch at the beginning of side three. This does not make the record does not skip at all. It causes about a dozen pops, half of which are as audible as the music, and the other half are subtle. The cover is very good, there is some sticker removal damage on the front right center (in photo), there is a round sticker still affixed, there is corner wear and the upper right corner's bumped, no split seams. Also, at the very top of the cover, where the word "stereo" would usually be, there is a cutout hole (about 3/8" x 1") where the word was literally cut out of the cover. The cover is a metallic silver and a gatefold, with crazy psychedelic art printed inside. Generic atco inner sleeves. Someone took it upon themselves to black out with a magic marker, the text that appears (appeared) on all 4 record labels "promotional copy - note for sale". This redaction is visible in the picture, look at the record label, at about 10 o'clock, there is a black blob, that is it.
THE STORY OF THIS RECORD
For almost 21 years, We had a record store in Danbury, CT called TRASH AMERICAN STYLE.
In May of 2007 our landlord shafted all of us, and suddenly TRASH had no store. But our loss is your gain. Ever since May 2007, we’ve been sorting and organizing old stock and we’ve come across many many awesome records. They’d been sitting in the back room mostly untouched for DECADES. Some of these records were ordered new from labels and distributors and never bought by our customers or tucked away by lazy employees. Much of our stock also came from the customers who brought things in to sell nearly every day. After being on the sales floor for a while, we’d sometimes have to clear them out to make room for more new records. We’d stick them in the back room where they sat (and sat). Just want to clarify............
Only the cover has the SD-2-700 number on it.
The record labels have the 2-700 number on them.
They are MONO records in a stereo sleeve.
