this beautiful folk lp is issued on the 5th anniversary of Steve Evans death. seelie court searched for evans eventually tracing him to nigeria, only to discover that just before dying he had made an agreement with an unknown european label, seemingly meaning the lp would never be reissued. then a chance conversation 1 year later revealed that Shadoks had made that deal, but non exclusively, and just before the label was semi retired. Thomas Hartlage of Shadoks kindly assisted with this first ever reissue, supplying some photos Evans had given him. The label also extends thanks to Steve Evans brother Barry, and his widow Chinyere. This is traditional based folk rock of the best type, with a powerful and emotive energy. It was a favourite of the late great record collector and dealer Walter Geertsen, and reminds me a bit of Silly Wizards masterpiece Wild & Beautiful.
