bootlegs... gems from the 60s and 70s made from a tape that someone had recorded clandestinely. there's nothing to compare it to these days. anybody who has a phone can record a concert, put it on youtube, meh... but back then, a live album was rare and quite often, you weren't sure just how much studio doctoring an album had. like "frampton comes alive." most record stores did not take a chance selling bootlegs. non-chain and used record stores kept them behind the counter or in a separate room that you needed a password to get into. the sound on most of them was sketchy but it was a real recording of a real show. and we didn't care. this one, the cover says is by "stillscros b. jungnash." bootleg operations liked to be looked on as outlaw... underground. these day, they would be part of the deep web. they wanted you to know the artist (as if the track listing wouldn't give you a clue.) hence, the fake group name... underneath the stock picture of the group. the cover says that this was recorded at a lakehurst, new jersey show on 6-7-70. but according to the official "4 way street" album, they were playing at the fillmore east that night in the middle of a 6 night stand. the tour listing does not list a show in new jersey. but, where and whenever it was recorded, this is from that infamous 2nd leg of the 1st tour, after which they broke up. you won't find much info on this recording and i found no other ebay listing at this time. it is that rare... thanks!
