MEGA RARE JERRY LEE LEWIS "WILD ONE / OLD BLACK JOE"
CRUISIN' THE 50's CASB 002 78 RPM ISSUED IN 1996
LIMITED EDITION NUMBER 047 of 300
UNPLAYED WITH ALL THE INSERTS
Although the record is UNPLAYED as you can see from the photo there are a couple of minor scuff marks on the front sleeve.
"Wild One" was originally recorded in 1958 by Johnny O'Keefe.
Ivan (Jerry Allison) and Jerry Lee also recorded it that same year but Jerry's version lay in the vaults until 1974 when it was issued on his Rockin' and Free album.
This Cruisin' 78 was the 1st time it was ever available as a single.
"Old Black Joe" was always a great favourite in the many UK Rock'n'Roll clubs back in the 70's.
Check out the story behind Cruisin’ The 50’s 78s in an article in the new April edition of the Record Collector Magazine.

THIS IS THE INFORMATION FROM CRUISIN’ WHEN THE 78’s WERE ISSUED
The records are pressed in heavyweight vinyl on an original 1950's machine at EMI. The lacquers used to make the metal masters were cut on an original 50's mono 78rpm lathe and are complete with a locked eccentric runout groove - this feature is required by early jukeboxes to reject the record.
To create an authentic rich 78rpm sound we were lucky with the help of Abbey Road Studios to track down a Multi Award winning engineer who had worked for many of the UK's leading record labels including Columbia and Top Rank during the late 50's. With his skills and using original equipment we were able to once again produce true 78rpm records of the highest quality.
THIS RECORD CAN BE MIXED IN WITH SHELLAC 78's ON A JUKEBOX WITH A 78 RPM NEEDLE - IT IS NOT AN INFERIOR MICROGROOVE PRESSING.
IT CAN ALSO BE PLAYED WITH A 33/45 NEEDLE ON A RECORD PLAYER.
Each record has a hand printed sleeve and is individually numbered. They also contain reproductions of original items - photos, sheet music etc that relate to each artist.
