Description
The Golden Gate Orchestra (i.e., the California Ramblers) play a hot version of "Blue River" (take C) on Edison 52105.
There are two Bixian trumpet solos, the second of which begins with the same phrase Bix played in that part of the song on Frank Trumbauer's record of "Blue River" a month earlier. Hear it for yourself on YouTube by comparing the Ramblers record at 1:38 to the Trumbauer record at 2:09.
Frank Cush, Chelsea Quealey (tp); Tommy Dorsey (tb); Pete Pumiglio (cl,as); Bob Fallon (as); Sam Ruby (ts); Spencer Clark (bassax); Jack Russin (p); Tommy Felline (bj); Herb Weil (d); Ed Kirkeby (dir, vcl). Recorded in New York on September 19, 1927.
On the flip side, B.A. Rolfe and his Palais D'or Orchestra play a harmless fox trot entitled "A Siren Dream." Recorded in New York on September 21, 1927.
This record is in V+ condition generally, with a little distortion on some of the very loudest passages. A moderate warp does not affect play. Overall, the record plays well. There are tears on both labels. Please note that the record is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment.
I'm a longtime collector who is downsizing. I know how to pack records.
