  Camel 1st Pressing LP UK Camel MCA MUPS 473 Rare Blue Black Hexagon Labels!

MCA MUPS 473 pressing of their 1973 debut album, simply entitled Camel.   UK pressing MCA MUPS 473.  First pressing on blue and black Hexagon MCA record labels before any later re- pressings on the rainbow labels such as MCF 2665 or MCL1601.

The matrix no’s are:

Side 1: 7-LNMG-275-2L   1 I   (Matrix stamper no.5)

Side 2: 7-LNMG-276-1L   1 C  (Matrix stamper no.3)

Hardly ever comes up for sale in the form of this blue and black MCA 1st pressing, Early mother stampers of I and C in the Decca BUCKINGHAM sequence.

Condition:  Please see the photos contained in this listing, the following is a detailed description of the item condition.

Item condition (Sleeve / Record) VG/VG+

Detailed grading: 

Outer Sleeve:  Overall the sleeve is in VG condition.  The sleeve has a moderate amount of wear to all areas, it has clearly been handled quite a bit and there is general shelf wear to all of the 4 edges. The front cover has a relatively small area of damage in the upper right hand corner where a sticker has been removed at some point in the past and this has resulted in some of the sleeve surface being removed – the photos show this for additional reference.  Aside from this point the sleeve is relatively clean and has no further tears, stains or writing.  The rear cover is generally clean and only very slight areas of wear and discolouration..  The rear of this sleeve is often found with significant ring wear and discolouration but this copy is pretty clean in this regard.  Overall the sleeve is well used with some small damage to the front cover, but remains generally clean and therefore manages to achieve a VG grading.       

Record: The record is in VG+ condition and in fact is not too far short of being in EX condition.  There is a light to moderate amount of very superficial hairlines which can only be seen when the record is held up to very strong halogen light.  A very nice copy which retains its deep shine and gloss.   

Labels.  EX. Both labels are clean with only a couple of very faint spindle lines that are only visible when the record is held up to strong light.

The record also comes with its original polylined inner sleeve, which is in EX condition.

I grade fairly but conservatively.  This is nice example of this rare first pressing of this LP.
