Condition: Please see the photos contained in this listing, the following is a detailed description of the item condition.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY :
Item condition – Sleeve G+ ; Record VG (Audio grade = EX, plays great)
Detailed grading:
Outer Sleeve: Overall the sleeve is in Good+ condition. The sleeve has a moderate amount of wear to all areas, it has clearly been handled quite a bit and there is general shelf wear to all of the 4 edges. The front cover has a relatively small area of damage in the upper right hand corner where a sticker has been removed at some point in the past and this has resulted in some of the sleeve surface being removed – the photos show this for additional reference. In addition a narrow band of adhesive tape has been used on the top seam, maybe to hold it together as it may have come apart many years ago, and this still remains in place although the tape has aged and the glue has turned yellow / brown in colour – again this can easily been seen in photos. There is also some ring wear, which is more predominant on the front cover.
Aside from these points the sleeve is relatively clean and has no further tears, stains or writing. Although worn, all of the edges remain intact and unbroken and for this reason I think the tape repair noted above was done to hold the sleeve together as if the seam had come unstuck, rather than it being added to repair a rip or split along the top edge.
The catalogue number and the band’s name are still fully legible on the spine.
Record: - Overall The record is in VG condition visually. Side 1 is EX and Side 2 is VG-. Audibly the record is graded as EX and plays through very well.
The main condition point of note is a rather unsightly area of damage across the end of “Never Let Go” and the beginning of “Curiosity” on side 2. It looks as though someone has scratched the LP trying to remove something from it and has damaged it with a series of unsightly marks in the process. That said, the areas of damage is of a smallish size, being around 20mm long by approx 10mm wide. Despite it looking unsightly, when played back the record plays very well, without any jumps or skips during this marked area. It gives a number of audible clicks which can be heard predominantly over a period of about 30-40 seconds at the end of “Never Let Go” and the quite intro to “Curiosity”. It is a case of the marks looking much worse than they sound! Whilst a smallish area is unsightly, the record plays through extremely well.
Aside from this point there is only a light amount of superficial hairlines which can only be seen when the record is held up to very strong halogen light.
Labels. EX. Both labels are generally clean and undamaged.
The record also comes with its original polylined inner sleeve, which is in EX condition, although somewhat browned with age. I grade fairly but conservatively. Overall this is a reasonable copy, although not mint of this difficult to find LP in this first pressing blue/ black label. There are a couple of condition points to note although the record still plays all the way through with no skips or jumps and for 98% of the record it plays through absolutely beautifully! The sleeve is moderately worn, but still intact with no really major problems, just the condition points noted above.I ship LP’s using cruciform mailers and suitable protective inners. Payment must be made within 7 days of the auction close. Thanks.
