Description

Butterfly Queen acetates

These are the actual acetates for the Butterfly Queen album by 70's/80's rock band Canis Major.
These were cut by request for the albums producer Derek Lawrence.
Butterfly Queen was recorded at De Lane Lea/Music Centre Sound Studios in Wembley during April/May 1980.

Derek Lawrence may be familiar to some of the more serious rock music collectors out there, as he was the man behind the production of the early albums for Deep Purple and Wishbone Ash.
The lathe cutting duties were performed by Kevin Metcalfe who cut the acetates for the first Queen album (which was also recorded at the same studio...
De Lane Lea (studio 3).
The engineer for the Butterfly Queen sessions was Pete Wandless and the Tape operator wasTed Carfrae.

This sale consists of six discs in 45rpm size, two being single sided and four having a track on each side.
'Fire' which was the B side to the bands only released single 'Freeway Rock' is also included. There is also a 'remix 2' of the track 'Returning' which is the only existing version of that song.
The discs are 45 years old and have a few blemishes and light scratches but are still very much playable.

The tracks are:

Butterfly Queen
Scorcerer Stays
Catch Me If I Fall
Returning (remix 2)
Returning
Freeway Rock
Clown Of Reality
Long Enough to Tell
Painted Smile
Fire

Because of the fragility and rarity of these items they will be carefully packaged.
